Volunteerism
is Our Key to Success
If our Association
is to achieve excellence, we all must "step to the plate" and
give some of our time. We can pledge that "We are committed to excellence,"
however, we can only achieve excellence with the support of more than
a core group of volunteers. Many others must become more involved.
I have been most pleased with the support of a number of volunteers in
the months since I've assumed the President's position, and look forward
to receiving support from others as this season evolves. There have been
a number of noticeable improvements in the last few months, and it could
not have been accomplished without the time and effort of volunteers.
I will call upon others to volunteer their time as the season gets underway.
Don't be surprised to receive a phone call in the coming months. Please
make the call to me (412-714-0212) to offer your services, even if it
is only a couple of hours per season. Thank you!!

Please
Treat Our Young Umpires with Patience and Respect
I ask each and everyone (i.e., Managers, Players, and Parents) to
treat our young umpires with patience and respect. Remember, these young
men are doing a service for our Association, and are doing their best.
There is no doubt that mistakes will be made; they are only human. There
will be zero tolerance of any disrespect to any of our young umpires.
Managers and players, remember to say thank you to our umpires after the
game. Thank you.

Recreational
Play versus Competitive Play
It is my strong desire to make our Association one that affords all
of our players an opportunity to get the most of their experience. Recognizing
that our players are of all talent levels, we will offer a program that
appeals to all. For those who want to participate for the recreation and
fun of baseball, we will offer a program that meets their needs. And for
those who take the game a bit more serious, and who have dreams of playing
at the high school level or beyond, we will offer a program that allows
them to develop their skills to the fullest. We will not only have an
excellent in-house program, we will also emphasize and sponsor tournament
play, and always look to be part of the best leagues available in the
area. It is my intention to develop our Association into one that others
recognize as a quality program.
